The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek at a Glance

The Crosstrek has become, in less than 10 years, one of the Subaru brand's biggest stars. It's easy to understand; this model has everything you could want from a subcompact SUV.

Soon, the next generation of the model should be presented to us, but this one is planned for 2024. Therefore, 2023 will be the last year of the second generation model. Here's what's in store for its last run in its current form.

All-wheel drive

Living in Quebec and with winter approaching, it's normal to think about the time we'll be spending on the roads when conditions are less pleasant. Those who already enjoy the skills of a Subaru Crosstrek will tell you that this vehicle offers an incredible degree of reassurance to its owners, so they don't have to worry about the worst of the weather.

Quite simply, the Crosstrek's full-time all-wheel drive system is probably the best in the industry. That's one of the strengths of this model, and for anyone looking for a safe driving experience next winter, the Crosstrek is a model to consider.

PHEV

Plug-in hybrids are all the rage across the industry these days. Did you know that the Subaru Crosstrek is available in a plug-in hybrid configuration? The plug-in hybrid has been less popular, as it offers a shorter range at about 30 kilometers, but for many buyers, that's enough for the commute to and from work.

Everything costs money. Here's a way to save money in the long run.

A diverse lineup

In the final year of its second generation, the Subaru Crosstrek doesn't fall victim to a simplification of the lineup, as we often see with outgoing models. Rather, it's as complete as ever with Convenience, Touring, Outdoor, Sport, Limited and Limited PHEV models.

In all, there are three powertrain solutions on offer, with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine in base configuration (152 horsepower), a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder (182 horsepower) and a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that's paired with an electric motor to provide electric range.

Best of all, three versions (Convenience, Touring and Sport) can still be delivered with a six-speed manual transmission.

Really, this is a very mature Crosstrek that is being presented and offered for 2023. We'll have to watch for the next-generation model, but Subaru has a winning player here.
